Student Orientation for HAN University’s Students 2023

Eight HAN University Netherlands students underwent orientation before starting their regular classes at Sanata Dharma University. They are taking a number of classes ranging across English Letters, Master of Management, Theology, and English Education study programs. The orientation was done in cooperation with Vice Rector IV Mrs. Caecillia Tutyandari, Ph.D., the International Office, and the heads of study programs involved. Mr. Rohandi, Ph.D. attended the orientation as the coordinator of the introductory of the learning field or PLP (Pengenalan Lapangan Pembelajaran), Ms. Yurisdixta Menavia as the Head of the International Office, Hirmawan Wijanarka, M.Hum. as the head of English Letters program, Mrs. Rina Astuti Purnamaningwulan, M.Hum, as the Coordinator of English Education program’s PLP, and Mrs. Ika Kamelania, SE, MBA, Ph.D. as the Vice Coordinator of PLP.

 

The orientation opened with greetings from Vice Rector IV, followed by the introduction of each attendee. Mrs. Caecillia then gave a brief introduction to the campus grounds of the university to the HAN students to complement their hands-on campus tour across the library, main buildings, classrooms, and other facilities which was done a week prior. Fr. Albertus Bagus Laksana S.J., S.S., Ph.D. as the university’s Rector was also present to give the students a warm welcome.

The HAN students, other than studying regular courses, are also doing an internship program in teaching practice at a high school in Yogyakarta. The orientation continued with an explanation of the teaching internship given by Mrs. Rina as the coordinator of English Education’s PLP. She also went on to explain other academic and non-academic activities that the students can partake in during their study in Sanata Dharma.

The HAN students appeared very eager to ask numerous questions during the orientation process, ranging from the lecture procedure to how they would carry out teaching practice in schools. The representatives of the study program continued the program by providing an explanation. After the session on the teaching internship was completed, the orientation continued with explanations from the heads of each study program present at the location. Mr. Hirmawan, who represented the English Letters study program, Mr. Titus, who represented the Masters in Management study program, and Ms. Rina, who also represented the English Language Education study program, explained the courses that were offered to HAN University students.
